Why you should consider a Swiss Travel Pass

Trains in Switzerland are fast, comfortable and on time. They are also pretty expensive.

Depending on how long you’re in the country, you may find that a Swiss Travel Pass to be very much worth your while.

A return trip from Alpnachstad to Lucerne for both of us cost around $30CHF. That’s about a 20-minute train ride. With a travel pass, you’ll get unlimited bus, train and boat, as well as free entry to all Swiss museums.

I couldn’t say for sure whether it would have been worth it for us, but if we’d had one we probably would have made more time to visit a few more museums, especially the Swiss Transport Museum in Lucerne as well as something on our afternoon in Zurich.

If you’re planning on spending any more than a few days in Switzerland and plan to use the excellent train system, then a travel pass is a no-brainer in my opinion.
