On our walk through Santa Croce, Dorsoduro, and surrounds, we found ourselves at Campo San Barnaba.
A wonderful large square with a heap of specialty shops, as well as Grom Gelato! Some seriously good gelato! There’s a boat moored at the canal when you can pick up some fresh fruit if you desire.
The area is much less crowded than many of the other parts of Venice we have seen, and if we make if back to this part of the world, we’ll definitely be spending more time on this side of Venice.
Campo San Barnaba also houses a church (featured in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade), which at the time of our visit was hosting a very interesting looking Leonardo DaVinci exhibition. We didn’t make it in unfortunately as we needed to get home, but if it’s on when you’re there, go and take a look.
