I’m amazed at how close many of the attractions in Rome are. Or, more to the point, how well positioned our apartment is.
Piazza Navona is a bustling public space, lined by restaurants and coffee houses. Musicians busk while magicians do their tricks, and touts try to sell you a selfie stick.
Although it was on our to-do list, we stumbled across it today quite by accident. We left the apartment to get our bearings after only just having landed from Melbourne. Within a 5 minute walk and we’ve already stumbled onto the Piazza!
My head is still swimming with the history of what we’re seeing in Rome. Thousands of years of history- right here to touch. It’s hard to believe the Piazza Navona actually sits on top of a stadium built over two millenia ago.
The surrounding buildings and fountains are magnificent to see in real life. You no doubt would recognize Piazza Navona from the “Angels and Demons” movie, or if not, surely “National Lampoons European Vacation”?
Piazza Navona, and the surrounding streets are perfect to get your bearings around Rome, and a great open space for kids to run around in.
